Poem Time

Hey guys! So recently, I found out that one of my poems is going to be published in a book! I'm so excited to see it in print. I just wanted to share the poem I published with you people and hear your thoughts.

"Hope"

Bursting with energy,
yet calm as the sea,
it launches out with its deep clawed fingers
and attacks you from beneath.

I stand alone pleading for help.
But it never comes and I wonder.
Is this how it all ends?
In the hands of a monster?

Then suddenly,
something rises up inside of me.
A fiery powerful substance
that I have never felt so strongly in my life.

I push the beast off of me and stand up.
I feel invincible.
But only in the eyes of myself,
will my true invincibility ever remain.

East Coast!

Hello world! I just thought I would share some pictures from my trip to the East Coast. We visited Ontario, Toronto, Boston, New Jersey, New York, and Washington D.C. all in a matter of ten days. The drives were crazy!

The Logic Behind Twerking

"I think it's quite inappropriate. Especially for the age groups it's aimed at."

I never thought a boy band member would ever say this, but it has made me respect Harry Styles much more. (cue applause)

Miley Cyrus, coming from a children's show on Disney, does not see the consequences she has ignited by promoting twerking. The fan base Cyrus  has consists of mainly teenage girls, who grew up with her as she filmed the Hannah Montana series. While Miley Cyrus may see her twerking as way of "owning her sexuality," the truth is that her message can easily be distorted and be interpreted by these girls quite differently. Twerking isn't teaching them to own their body, the way Cyrus sees it, it's teaching them to be provocative and sexual--not appropriate for young girls.
